Artist Lova Wahlström

Wahlström is a Swedish artist currently residing in Australia. She grew up in a small country town surrounded by deep forest and quiet lakes. Since childhood she has been drawn to creating drawings. Getting inspiration from writings and poems, Wahlström finds romance in twisted stories and things that were melancholic.

Wahlström draws creatures that look different and unique, she thinks only about what they represent before putting pen to paper, or in some cases her drawings act as a mirror for her own emotions.

When asked to describe her creatures Wahlström said, “My partner still laughs out loud when he reminding me that once I described my creatures that I draw as ”my demons” to a man that we met once, so I won’t go there this time but I would say that they are existing beings in my world and I love them very much. There is hundreds of thousands of long-armed, pattern-necked, big-eyed creatures that just wait to be drawn, sculptured or painted.”

When asked, Wahlström credits her musician father for opening the door to self expression using different art forms. Which led to her exploration of different art forms such as oil painting and stop motion animation during a Diploma of Visual Arts program at Latrobe College of Arts in Melbourne, Australia.
