Artist Mary Fedorowski
Mary Fedorowski is a US born artist who holds degrees in Public Health and Health Communication, but is mainly self taught in her artistic practice. Fedorowski’s work examines how light and colour fundamentally bring shapes to life. Her style is rooted in minimalism with a focus on the beauty of modern cityscapes without the stain of human touch. Using crisp lines, engaging palette, and playing with space and movement, each work is a calm and vibrant respite from maximal distractions of modern life. Whether by shadow or greenery, her art suggests that life does exist right beyond the wall.
Fedorowski was always interested in art as a child but put it on the back burner to focus on school and a career. She returned to her artistic practice as an adult and learned that her passion lay in painting.
Fedorowski is inspired by the quest for home and finding calm in an overstimulated world. She is also influenced by the colour of the desert sunset, minimalist architecture, and mid-century designers such as Alvar Aalto and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
Fedorowski consistently researches her locations through her photography and works on her pieces 2 to 3 canvases at a time. She typically paints with acrylics and has begun experimenting with mural work and collage.
