Artist Kathy Varadi
Kathy Varadi is a U.S born painter who holds both a BFA and MFA. Right away, Kathy opened up about her late start to the arts, confessing to, until a few years ago, devoting her life to the sciences and athletics. She sees constant re-invention as part of her life and welcomed it when it led her to the arts, painting and to even be inspired by poetry.
When asked about the inspiration behind her work, Varadi simply said “The calm I feel when looking at the ocean, sunsets, trees and faces.” She was also, until recently, inspired by the Anthropocene which is a proposed geological epoch dating from the commencement of significant human impact on Earth's geology and ecosystems, including, but not limited to, anthropogenic climate change.
Currently, Varadi is exploring the concept of the sublime as described by Immanuel Kant as it applies to the COVID-19 pandemic.
